First Greeting

So I decided to go with simple background. XD I have spent way too much time on this already. Next I have some references to do and then I will work on more detailed backgrounds.

The quick story on this:

Ally decided after 3 days of arguing over a stall door, it was time to let the two mares out in the pasture together. She released the traaker mare (which it turns out isn't her mare, but a student of hers!) And after the mare had had a chance to gallop up to the highest point in the pasture to sit and graze, Ally went to grab the beast.

In their 3 days of confinement together, Penryn had been by far the more obnoxious mare. Snorting, pawing, grunting, squealing, and kicking at the walls of her stall. Ally waited until she had Penryn turn towards the gate before unlatching her halter, and slipping through the gate to get out of the way. Of course the big red blur went straigt for the hill, but stopped short of the smaller mare. The new traaker was tall horse by most standards, but is was still much smaller than the 18hh Appaloosa who now stood a few feet away pawing the air, tearing chunks of the earth and grass. After the traaker mare (who will remain unnamed until her owner arrives this week) simply looked at Penryn with curiousity, Penryn lost her angry streak, and simply trotted off, swishing her tail as she went. The grulla mare was obviously a much calmer mount than Ally's own.

The students:

So when Joseph got back with a beautiful mare in the trailer, he put up two hands to stop the bouncing Ally from running through a list of names she had already been pulling out of a hat for this new horse. After he had her stopped, he put a hand on each of Ally's shoulders.

"She isn't your's." he said simply, trying to show the apology in his eyes before continuing. "But I think you will be happy to know, that your school will finally become more than a dream." Joseph finished bashfully before looking up under his longer than normal eyelashes.

"What do you mean? I don't understand what you are talking about?" Ally said, an obvious tremble to her voice as she tries not to be upset that the new horse she had gotten so excited for wasn't hers.

"I might have posted some videos of you and Penryn working together online with flyers for a school. We had several people beg for the opportunity to come here and learn under you. I was originally only going to pick 1 student for you to begin with, but seeing as how Daine Stoican has offered to come help start this school, I figured that 2 students would be a good start." He said, pausing to let Ally soak up his words.

She simply stared at him dumbfounded for a moment. "Daine?" she said in shock. It had been years since the two had seen eachother. As kids, they had been attached at the hip, but had grown apart when Daine moved to MVA (an island off the Canadian coast.... I think). "What about the ranch?" Ally was still not soaking up the full meaning of what Joseph was saying.

"Daine just sold her ranch after Aiyana passed. She decided to move back home with Ace. She is moving back to Montana, and when she heard of the ad, she called me up. I figured it would be perfect. We have a house that is too big for the 2 of us, and then there is the matter of the students. I hope you don't mind that I interviewed them and made a couple decisions for you on who would be allowed to come. It was a lengthy process."

"Lengthy process? How many people had you heard from?" Ally asked confused.

"Oh somewhere around 100, but anyways, I figured they would be able to stay in the guest wing, and Daine and Ace can stay in the Cabin on the other side of the Ranch?" Joseph asked, hesitant at Ally's reaction.

Ally flung herself into Josephs arms. "Oh my goodness! It's finally going to happen!" She exclaimed, her voice squeaking a bit. With the sharp pitch, the trailer lurched, and stomping came from inside. "But how does any of this explain the mare?"

"Well this is the mare that one of you're students picked out from the traaker unit academy. You're other student has means to pick up the horse she picked out, everyone should be here by the end of the week, including Daine and Gadget."

Ally gasped a little at the fact Daine was bringing Gadget. He had to be the most beautiful stallion she had ever seen. Wow it was going to be a busy week. Time to get these 2 acquainted before the other horses showed up and Penryn's ranch became a home for more horses.

Next I will work on references for both traakers and their riders.
 
*edit* Well Penryn didn't turn out as angry as I had planned, but maybe once I finish her mane and tail and background it will come together better

*edit* That mane and tail! I believe I am falling in love!  She turned out way better then I ever thought she would. And holy smokes was that mane and tail a Blast to draw! Took 2 hours to do, XD but well worth it!. I am tempted to leave it like this as a good reference, but I am excited at the same time to see how the rest of the image comes out!

Look at my new beauty! She doesn't have a name yet, but she will by the end of this picture!  Thank you so much Nightsrunner for the beautiful design. I simplified the colors down just a touch for my own abilities. I hope that's ok? Anyways, I will post more updates as I work on this. And don't worry for those of you who watch me for Penryn, she is in this image too. XD
